J. J. Keller hosts Pandemic Flu Webcast Event

Neenah, WI — J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. presented a webcast, "Pandemic Flu: Are you prepared for the worst?", on May 13, 2009 to the subscribers of three of its online services – FleetMentor®, KellerOnline®, and Prospera®. Presented by J. J. Keller subject matter experts Jennifer Stroschein and Becca Kandler, attendees were provided with valuable information to assist their businesses in planning for a potential flu pandemic.

The webcast covered the various ways in which a flu pandemic could impact a business, which include:

  • Dramatic worker absenteeism of up to 40 percent during peak periods of illness
  • Interrupted supply chains
  • Changes in patterns of commerce
  • Competition for skilled workers
  • Prolonged business closures
  • Demand for scarce supplies and materials
  • Economic and social challenges

Since it's difficult to forecast when and where another flu pandemic will occur, numerous government agencies are urging employers to prepare for the potential impact of a pandemic immediately. The presenters stated that the best way to reduce the impact of a pandemic on a business’ operations, employees, customers, and the general public is to begin continuity planning for a pandemic. The attendees were provided with guidance on who should be involved with pandemic planning, short-term and long-term action items, training and communicating with employees, and valuable pandemic flu resources.

"Having a clear, fact-based understanding of pandemic influenza – regardless of the strain – and its potential consequences on your workplace is the first step toward developing and implementing an effective pandemic flu plan," said Stroschein. "It is important to understand that although the H1N1 news has slowed over the past few weeks that a pandemic could occur at anytime and it is extremely important for business to start planning now so that the can remain viable in the case of a pandemic."

In addition to the valuable resources available to assist in pandemic planning, the archived presentation of this webcast is available for both subscribers and trial members of all three services to view.
